SA recycling pioneer ARR has deployed a 68-tonne mobile concrete crusher to meet massive demand for ‘green’ building products from SA’s defence and transport infrastructure boom. The $2.2 million Nordberg Impact Crusher – Adelaide’s largest mobile crusher – will turn waste concrete, previously dumped as landfill, into “recycled rubble”, which is used for the foundations in major infrastructure projects.

SA is leading the nation in establishing a world-class recycling industry that can transform waste products into valuable economic products, reports ARR sales and marketing manager Hugh Hocking.

ARR was Gold Sponsor of South Australia’s largest waste management industry conference, the 2006 NWAA Towards Zero Waste Conference.

Affordable Recycled Building Materials

Adelaide Resource Recovery (ARR) offers affordable recycled building materials to building, construction and engineering firms throughout South Australia.

ARR operates a resource recovery facility within the Wingfield Eco Resource Management Centre, operated by Adelaide City Council.

Hundreds of companies from throughout the Adelaide metropolitan region bring Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste to ARR’s operation at Wingfield. Once this is recycled, ARR’s Recycled Rubble provides a hard-setting product that has many uses from building foundations to roadway bases.

ARR Products Overview

Recycled Concrete

PM 1 Class 1 20mm Base Course which is suitable for upper layers of high to medium traffic roadways
PM 2 Class 2 20mm Sub-Base Course which is suitable for sub layers of roadways
PM 3 Class 3 20mm Sub-Base Course which is suitable for all lower layers of roadways

Recycled Bitumen

Crushed Bitumen An ideal product for creating medium duty hardstands, or covering unsealed carparks, to reduce dust in dry conditions.
CSB Coarse Screened Bitumen is similar to Crushed Bitumen, but has a lower clay content. Also suitable for using as a base for hardstands and for consolidating weak areas in general roadways.
SB-14 Screened Bitumen -14 is similar to CSB, but is screened to a minus 14 sizing. Suitable for a final topping of hardstands.

Aggregates

10-7 Screened material suitable for drainage and bedding applications. Also used in pipe laying applications, where water is present.
20-14 Screened material suitable for drainage and bedding applications. Also ideal for creating temporary footings for light excavation equipment during wet weather conditions.

Recycled Sand

PM64 Drainage sand which is suitable for pipe laying applications
